Okay, we’ve all heard the dermatologists mantra – “The safest tan is a fake tan”
But the mantra stops short of the vital information needed to complete this higher beauty routine – what – how – where from etc.
Well as you know, new products are launched at an hourly rate and new formulas make it hard to keep on top of the latest and greatest fake tanners on the shelves – so the team at Kitten Vixen have put four drug store brands to the test so you don’t have to sweat it this summer.
Neutrogena Sunless Tanning Spray $10.49 4.5 stars FIRST PLACE
Easy application, great color. Price point makes this a top overall choice.
Hawaiian Tropic Island Radiance Crème $9.49 4.0 stars SECOND PLACE
Easy to apply, felt slightly sticky after application though. Great color, looked very natural.
Mystic Tan Lotion $38.00 3.5 stars THIRD PLACE
Nice finish and easy to apply as it’s a spray. Not so fun spraying the face but color was worth it. Price point lets it down.
Tan Towel $25.00 2.5 stars FOURTH PLACE
This gave a pretty descent tan, nice tone and no streaking – however there are five towlettes in each box and two are needed to cover the face and body. The instructions on the box say reapply 2-3 times a week so this self-tanner works out as one of the priciest products on the market.
Quick note:
Ladies – skin prep is vital when you apply fake tanners – freshly scrubbed and moisturized skin is the best foundation for an even fake tan.
Apply it systematically so you don’t miss any areas and pay careful attention to your knees ankles feet elbows hairline and hands, as these are dead giveaway points!
