In winter, getting skin to glow can be an up hill battle.
The sun is replaced with wind, rain and extreme cold - all of the elements that make our skin dry, dull, irritated and ready to jump ship. Putting the glow back in starts with the skin prep long before make-up is applied and should become routine if you want to glide through the winter months looking dewy, fresh and fabulous.
Here is my full body routine, with a few of my favorite products that help get the job done.
Exfoliate at least once a week. If you have skin that is visibly cracking or flaking exfoliate every other day until the dry skin has gone. I like:
Clinique Turnaround Concentrate Visible Skin Renewer: With its high-performance cocktail of exfoliants it prompts a renewal process that is multilevel and time-released and it continually unveils brighter, more radiant skin.
Day cream – this is vital if you want your foundation to look natural. I like:
Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream: A rich, luxurious daily moisturizer. Sooths, nurtures and renews sensitive, dry and weather-damaged skin.
Night cream – can be much heavier than your day cream to give your skin a good chance of re-hydrating whilst you sleep. I like:
Burts Bees Radiance Night Cream – the nourishing Royal Jelly naturally replenishes your delicate facial skin with essential amino acids, antioxidants, vitamins and key minerals.
Moisturizing mask: So eighties but oh so necessary in the winter. I like:
L’Occitane Ultra Comforting Mask
Under eye area – this skin is delicate and will certainly need a boost in the winter months. I like:
Olay Regenerist Anti-Aging Eye Roller - it features precision micro-rollers that gently massage in a concentrated, hydrating anti-aging treatment that will reduce eye puffiness and regenerate skin's appearance to diminish fine lines and wrinkles.
Lips: So many lip moisturizers contain alcohol and other ingredients that dry your lips out over time. Make sure you go for the most natural lip moisturizer you can find. I like:
Cococare 100% Cocoa Butter
Hands need special attention in the winter if you want to avoid ashy, cracking knuckles – I like:
L’Occitane Lavender Hand Cream
Body moisturizer – best applied when you get out of the tub or shower for maximum absorption. I like:
Nivea Body Smooth Sensation. Enriched with Gingko Extract, Shea Butter and Vitamin E.
Bath: Nothing beats a soak in the tub when you're chilled to the bone. Soak away the chills and moisturize your skin at the same time. I like:
Lush Dreamtime Bath Melt with lavender and chamomile.
